Masterclass for early and contemporary music

What is the connection between early and contemporary music? How do the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and the ensemble recherche deal with their specific repertoire? What is historical and what is informed performance practice? What does contemporary playing technique mean? Since 2004 ensemble recherche and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra have been answering these questions at their Ensemble Academy. What is particularly interesting and instructive about the Academy is the combination of early and contemporary music. This allows participants to spend a week intensively studying repertoire of the baroque and classical periods as well as of our own time. The Ensemblehaus, completed in 2012, provides the home for both Ensembles. It offers fantastic opportunities for education, forming new contacts and exchange.
