Three awardees of the "Concertare" composition competition are elected!
Mark Barden, Aaron Einbond and David Hudry are requested to work out their concepts for pieces for mixed ensemble consisting of baroque and modern instruments. The first performances played by Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and ensemble rehcerche will take place in the course of the Ensemble Academy Freiburg 2011.

Mark Barden was born 1980 in Cleveland, Ohio (USA) and lives in Germany since 2004. He is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music (USA) where he studied composition under Lew Nielson and piano performance under Monique Duphil. Later he studied with Mathias Spahlinger and Jörg Widmann at the Freiburg Conservatory of Music (Germany). He currently is research fellow at the Akademie der Künste Berlin, music section. www.mark-barden.com
Aaron Einbond was born 1978 in New York (USA) and is Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in music composition at Columbia University. He received his Ph.D. in 2009 at The University of California, Berkeley where his teachers include Edmund Campion, David Wessel, and Andrew Imbrie. David Hudry was born 1978 in Nîmes (France) and lives today in Pairs. He studied at the University Paul Valery of Montpellier and was admited 2003 to the National Conservatory of Paris with Emmanuel Nunes. In 2006, he was selected for the year-long information technology course at IRCAM and completed his Master's in Composition and New Technologies at CNSMDP with Stefano Gervasoni. www.davidhudry.com
Deadline for the "Concertare" composition competition has been 31st January 2010. The awards take the form of a work order amounting to 3.000 Euro. The jury consisting of Rebecca Saunders, Jörg Widmann, Andreas Staier, Markus Hinterhäuser, Martin Fahlenbock and Karl Kaiser has made its choice among more than 60 anonymous entries.
